Usually, we know frontal and sagittal planes from anatomy books. These historical planes are only used for overviewing the target regions.

Axial anatomic cryo-slices through the human body facilitate the understanding of the generated ultrasound pictures.
By overlaying the anatomical cryo-slices 1:1 with different colour-illustrated graphical elements, we built exact illustrations of the real ultrasound anatomy.
In graphical animations, we show needle guidance for ultrasound-guided interventions. Thereby, distance of the needle to the probe, needle advancement and the spread of the local anaesthetic can be described.
Ultrasound clips are stopped, being standardized illustrated, landmarks are defined and the interventional needle may be highlighted. Thereby, the ultrasound-guided intervention seems to be analogous to the simulated intervention in illustrated anatomical pictures.
A „virtual journey into the body“ is an instrument to get an understanding for complex anatomical situations. Do you have any idea about the paravertebral anatomy?
